NYC Travel Tips

I know it has taken me awhile to get this post put together.. What can I say?? Life has been crazy busy lately.

This past January my Mom and I went to New York City to celebrate my 25th birthday. This was our second time in NYC and I would say had to be our best time yet. We were a little concerned about the weather since we were going again in the middle of winter! The last time we went it was around the same time and the weather was AWFULL!!! The weather was on our side this time around though, 50’s everyday!!

The first time around we didn’t know where all the hot spots were for food, drinks, or entertainment. I made sure that I did my research, before eating at Red Lobster in Times Square again….. LOL. Below I have put together some of our favorites from the trip. From food to shopping, and awesome entertainment.

NYC Foodie

Our favorite places to eat in the city, wether it was brunch or just a mid day snack we have got you covered! For most of the places that we ate at I made sure that I either made a reservation on open table or yelp way before to ensure a table. Most places have the options for you to reserve a table ahead of time. If not make sure to get there at least 30 minutes earlier than normal dinner or lunch time or you will end up waiting for hours.

#1 Clinton Baking Company- Located in the lower east side. This brunch place is TO DIE FOR!! Order the chocolate chip pancakes with maple butter syrup. Yes, I said maple butter syrup!! It is delish, trust me it is worth every penny. It was very reasonable for brunch in the city, but make sure you bring cash they don’t except any other type of payment.

#2 Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer

This is a place that I wanted to eat at last time we were in the city, but when we went to the Soho location the line was all the way around the block and it was 28 degrees.. So, lets just say we passed on it, but this past time we went to the one that was closer to Times Square the night that we arrived. It just so happened to be my birthday as well, which was super fun considering this place has a awesome signature item. The giant milkshake that is 1,700 calories per shake.. Yes, I said 1,700 calories…. LOL. It was for sure worth the wait, which was only about a hour a half whenever we got there. I highly recommend this place just for the milkshake!!

#3 Levain Bakery

The best Chocolate Chip cookie you will ever eat!!!

#4 Dominique Ansel Bakery

The best cronught that I have ever tasted in my life!! A doughnut filled with goodness and covered in cinnamon sugar!! YUMMMMYYY! They’re also very known for there frozen s’mores!! This is a must visit if you’re in the city.

I know there was a lot of food, but I feel that it is only fitting since I have been on a diet for the last year.. lol. So, I thought I deserved a week break just for my big 25th bday! We also went to a delicious Mexican restaurant the night of our show called Toloache 50 its a family owned place. It was more of a fancy kind of Mexican food, but it was incredible, just be ready to share a table with another group and get to know them well since the tables will be so close lol.

We went to a Broadway show of course! This was our second show we had seen on Broadway. Aladdin on Broadway is incredible and so life like its ridiculous!! The costumes are incredible and the actors really make you feel like you are in the movie with them. We sat in the second row from the front, so you could see the sweat coming off the Genies face lol. Incredible show overall, it is for sure is a must see if you are in the city! My Mom is my best friend and of course my favorite person to travel with, so over all we truly had a blast.
